Foo - What is it with those alarm clock commercials?!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anytime I hear an alarm clock going off on the television, I want to rip the head off the marketing "genius" that thought of it. I realize it's supposed to be an effective attention-getter, but all it really does is give my heart an unpleasant jolt, making me NOT want to buy the product.
(Vent over. Having a bad day. :o)
Of all the things I miss, I miss my mind the most, and commercials the least. Completely maddening, they were. Ugh.

I hate the radio commercials for coffee shops or something like that, that have alarm clocks going off. It's the worst sound in the world, especially when it's early in the morning and I'm driving to work, but all I want to do is go back to bed.
Another thing I cant stand when I'm driving, is radio commercials that have police sirens. That always scares the crap out of me, I'm looking all over the place for the cop before I realize it's the radio.
Worse are the radio commercials with a cell phone ringing faintly in the backround. Sounds just like my phone ringing in my pocket.
I hate the radio commercials that have horns honking. With Austin driving the way it is, one doesn't know if its the radio, or some drunk about to cause a chain wreck.
I'm a commercial producer. I write, produce and direct TV commercials.
I personally would NEVER put something that annoying in a TV commercial. Its an insult to consumers.

Living in a college town, the alarm clocks remind me of early morning rides...think about it ;)

Anything we'd recognize? Did you ever write yourself into a commercial?

Or sirens. Somebody has to be an absolute moron to think it's acceptable to put the sound of blaring sirens in a radio commercial.

Absolutely. One more reason to listen to NPR (except during pledge week). :o

This is why I quit watching most TV and dropped radio entirely. Effing with people is not appreciated...
I sometimes like to listen to old school radio plays when I go to bed.
One thing that always drives me nuts, is when a scene has someone knocking on a door. It ALWAYS wakes me up.
Damn foley artsists.
Any commercial that includes traffic wreck noises, tires squealing or emergency vehicle sirens should be illegal and the commercial writer should have to stand at a busy rush hour intersection, wearing nothing but a sandwich board explaining the nature of his offense.
In a perfect world, the panhandlers looking for donations would have large baskets of rotten produce to sell to passing motorists.
I like comercials, gives me time to go to the fridge for some fudge...

Choose not to listen to or watch commercials.
It is possible.
