Road Cycling - Quick question on riding rollers.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Obviously speed isn’t the most important thing on rollers, but what about cadence. Should I be trying to maintain my normal “road” cadence of about 100-110, or should I be gearing up and spinning at about 80rpms.
And what are some good exercises to do on rollers besides just sitting and spinning?

try 5 minute time trials once a week and track your progress by how many miles you log in that time. good for roller race get togethers as well.
See if you can manage quick accelerations while on rollers. You'll definitely need a smooth, even pedal stroke to pull this off.
Spinning a low gear on Rollers is a challenge.
Any cadence change if not smooth is a real adventure.
I use the HR book for indoor cyclists (Sally Edwards) for
their workouts, its more interesting on Rollers.
