It's Spring. We are tired of winter's affect on weight and eating. When stuck indoors, one eats more crap. So its Spring. The steamer is out and we are trying to eat better. So what vegetables do you prefer to put in your steamer. ?

Cool crisp uncooked carrots, broccoli, or tomatos. Usually the kinds found in those deli trays. :)
If it's going to be cooked, i really like spinach.

I was taught to hate peas by my grandmother. How many times I heard, eat your peas. I at a young age would go on strike. White Asparagus is what we'd prepare for dinner, when we have special guests over.
I voted asparagus, but I like it lightly oiled and salted and placed on the grill or under the broiler.
For steamed veg, probably broccolli.
Luv them all cept for a few like broccoli rabe and a couple others.
But my all time favorites are da sprouts - YUM.

There are More vegetables than I could post . How could I forget cauliflower. Its my second favorite. / The motivation for this thread. We had a vegetarian meal tonight fresh from the steamer. Tasted better than steak. A sweet curry sauce with a medely of vegetables. Featuring eggplant, cauliflower, squash, carrots, yams. With bits of fried tofu.

There is no way I could just choose one veggie as my favorite.
Yet, I just did. I picked squash out of that list. So yummy and versatile!
I voted potatoes, because I grew up eating that a lot. Still like it.
But I could've voted other too. Broccoli is wonderful! Hated it as a child, but now I love it! I boil the broccoli for 5-10 minutes (depending on the size) and then eat them with plenty of salt!
Certain tomatoes are great too. I like them big, juicy, sweet and soft. Some varieties are very hard and often quite bitter.
Oh, and we have a kind of mash over here that I'm really fond of. You boil rutabaga, carrots and potatoes until they're soft and then make a mash with some added butter and milk. We call it "rotmos", which translates to "root mash". Try it! :)
