Going into Samuel P. Taylor park on Sir Francis Drake from the Lagunitas side, I read there's a bike trail from inside Camp Taylor to Olema.

Has anyone been on this path? is it a paved road? and does it go all the way to Olema?

The Google map is pretty useless, no road names and shows it to be a dead end road.

Thanks..knotty

Part of it is paved and part of it is dirt.

If your starting point is that deli in Lagunitas, the entrance will be on the right-hand side of SFD about a mile or so down the road. There's a pedestrian bridge there that crosses the creek. Cross that bridge, and you'll be on the dirt part of the trail. Eventually, you'll cross another bridge and you'll be riding on the other side of SFD. Shortly after that second bridge, the trail becomes paved. The paved portion ends at Platform Bridge, so, no, it doesn't go all the way to Olema -- you'll have to use SFD from that point on.

The dirt part of the path is very rideable on a road bike when conditions are dry.

OK, thanks ConstantRider, I've been all around the area except that bike path. I saw some ALC riders going in that way a short while ago.

Ride safe...knotty

I've never tried the dirt part, I may have to do that next time.

If I may suggest what think is a better way.... at the end of the paved path, continue north on Platform Bridge Rd a couple of miles to the stop sign.... this is Pt. Reyes-Petaluma Rd.... hang a left and go a couple of miles to the stop sign.... this is Hwy 1, hang a left..... cruise thru Pt. Reyes..... just after you cross the green bridge over Lagunitas creek hang a right....this is Sir Francis Drake.... this goes dead straight for about a mile, then t's.... hang a left... this is Bear Valley Rd, and will take you to Olema....this route is West Marin at it's best.... if you can climb and like pain and incredible vistas, take Limantour Rd. out to the beach.... coming out of Olema you climb a bit up Sir Francis Drake (east bound) and are rewarded with a screamin' descent.... now you're back at the paved bike path !!! btw, just before the descent the cars parked on the right at the curve mark the north end of the Bolinas Ridge Trail, an outstanding MTB trail..... Have Fun!!! ;)

Thanks LouD-Reno, I'll try out your suggestion. So far, I've been just backtracking out of Pt. Reyes Station and never been the Bear Valley way. I also have to visit the Pt. Reyes seashore.
