I have a above average 1993 Delta V 2000. My bike store told me it wouldnt be worth tuning up and probaly worth more to a collector. The bike hasnt been rode since 1996. I heard Cannondale doesnt make parts for the bike any more. Just curious if anyone out there has any info. Thanks

That is a high end bike from 1993 with a list price over $2000. Not worth tuning up? Why, what's broken? If the shocks are broken, frozen, not working, maybe it's an issue. Otherwise, why not tune it up/fix it?

The bike is in excellent condition other than a small tear in the seat and some very small blemishes from storing in attic. The front head shock still works but the bike store said because of the age it would be a matter of time before it locked up. They also said Cannondale does not make parts to fix if this happens. Everything else is fine.

Most of the replaceable parts on that bike aren't made by Cannondale. . .
I am not sure if that wrench is qualified to work on bikes if he doesn't know that.

I think you need a new bike shop.

I think they were really worried about the head shock going south.

How do you plan on riding that bike?

Honestly its been about 12 years since I have rode just trying to get back into it. Thinking about looking into another bike. Hopefully I can get back into it.

I mean, like riding light trails, rough trails or paved roads?

I will most likely ride on some light trails then later get into rougher terrain.

Well have someone tune it up and if the Forks freeze have them try to repair it if they can't get new ones. Their price is nothing compared to getting a brand new bike of the same quality.

There were spacers made that enabled you to change the fork for an ordinary one, ie get a standard headset to fit. Ask at Mtbreview forums. Your LBS sucks by the way.
