Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I had a guy show up to give me an estimate on new garage doors. He's English (yes quite!) and he spots my R20 and says "Oh, you've got a granny basher. And its the folding kind". Has anyone heard "granny basher" before? I'm psyched up to ride through the nursing home hallways allycat style!

Not heard of a R20 referred as a "Granny basher" before, but, mine regularily gets called the "clown bike" or "circus bike" by my work mates.

My wife helped me name my bike. She asked in all seriousness, "Are you really going to ride that silly thing?" Henceforth I call my R20 "silly thing".

We all called them granny bikes as kids; This being in the North east of England. No mention of basher in our neck of the woods though. 'Shopper' was the most generic term for the twenty, much derided as it was at the time by us cool red-hand-gang style kids on our Raleigh Equipe junior-racers, Grifters and Strikas.
