Here's mine (and one that Shadiyah can appreciate). My wife asked me if I'd be willing to help save her Bellydance Troupe some money by making them 10 Shamadans. These usually range anywhere from $100 to $300 per Shamadan. I foolishly agreed and proceeded on my 50 hour project. Here's some pics.

This one is not yet complete as I still have to grind the plug welds off the base helm and polish the upper copper portion ... including straightening a few arms. However you get the jist. The other 9 will be complete by this Friday. Just have to solder them into the stem. The good news was that I "needed" a new tool to complete the job, at least that was the official reason I told my wife, so I purchased a 14" metal cut-off saw. Does an awesome job ... but was perhaps a bit over-kill for the 1/4" copper tubing I had to cut :D

Anyone else showed their love thru blood, sweat and tears?

Cool! Kind of makes my project look a bit small :o You'll have to post it on Youtube with a link from BF's.

That's super cool! You're quite the welder. :)

I've never danced with a Shamadan before. Is this for a performance for a wedding? If I remember correctly, that is what the original purpose the dancing prop was used for.

Naw, no project is small if you're doing it out of love. :D

You'll have to wait around 3-4years more for it though, assuming we're still together by then (*crosses fingers*). Lol.

All that work and you could've just bought a helmet light.

I made my fiancee's computer bag (basically a messenger bag, but without an offset shoulder strap.)

Thanks. Actually my welding skills are terrible. Luckily most of the connections were simple pipe solder connections.

It's my wife's advanced class performance piece for the year-end Student Gala. They will have opportunities to perform it at other events throughout the year. No wedding performances planned yet.

Nice. My skill level stops well before having to use a sewing machine ... or hand stitching. Got pics?
