Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm between 1700-2500 depending on what I'm doing, but it seems like randomly (maybe once/twice a week) even on non workout days I'll crave up to 3000+. I'm 24, 6'1", 175lb and am riding/running/swimming any time school permits, usually 3-5 rides a week, 2-4 runs, and a swim 1-2 times weekly. Not excessive, but significant. I just can't seem to maintain a consistent weekly diet, it often seems like I feel like eating more on days I'm sitting in class for eight hours....boredom? stress? WTF?

Note that one of the great ironies of our biology is that exercise supresses hunger. So if you are constantly active, you will get more hungry when you stop...

I've been watching the calories for about 3-weeks and I'm already down to 6'2" from 6'4"

I try to eat 3000+ per day. I'm 5'9" and about 150lbs. I'm trying to GAIN muscle though so eating + lifting = my life.

Too true. At the moment, my intake is 4000-5000 per day, but my daily rides are ~4 hours. Funny thing is I'm hardly "hungry" per se. But, on a rest day, I'm ravenous.

in 2006 i lost 70 lbs by calorie counting, running and riding. i was obsessed with the counting and reading food labels. point is i ended the year averaging 2800 calories. fast forward and the weight is still off. i would say i am around 2500 when inactive and 3000 when active. fyi i am 6'3'' 175 lbs and 34 yrs old. later.

That's not because you aren't exercising, it's because your body is insanely craving calories to recover!
