I am very stoked about my new tadpole, It is a lot of fun to ride. I have a question about the brakes. When applying the brakes I notice it's a real abrupt stop, it's not a smooth gradual stop. Also, it seems as if the whole break mechanism is loose, I checked all the bolts to see if they were tight, and they were. When applying the brakes, the pads hitting the rotor, the break mechanism moves forward about a quarter inch. Any ideas, is it normal?

Yep. That's normal. I changed my brakes to the Avid Juicy 7 hydraulics. Seems to work better as they don't pull the rotor. Here's a shot of my Sun Tadpole....
