Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Cheap crankset on ebay?

What do you guys think about this crankset? Any other recommendations for cranksets on the cheap?

3/32" is not at all questionable, I use it on all of my ss/fg rides so as to be able to use just about any chain. That being said, unless you're super short (like under 5ft 2in) the 160 length arms are wicked short.

Those cranks retail for $59.95 USD so if the length is an issue just go to your local bike shop and order some in the length you want. They are distributed by J+B, just incase you local shop does not know.

Anyway, unless you absolutely MUST have 165 (or 160, in this case) cranks, you'll be better off buying some old Sugino or Shimano pull-offs for $10 from your LBS or on eBay. They're everywhere, they're cheap, and the quality is unmatched.

Those cranks looks fine if 160mm is what you want/need. The need for an ultra high quality crank is overrated. Most reported crank problems usually have more to do with the BB. Cranks perform a pretty simple task actually, and as long as they don't break, bend, or flex dramatically, they have done their job as well as any other crank. However, I would want some more information about chainline before buying. Its says they work with a 110mm BB...but that does not necessarily imply a track standard 42mm chainline.

Those are Origin-8 cranks. They take a 103mm bb for track chainline.

For the money you're better off buying an older used Shimano road double for $25.

unless you're going for uber tarck points on your schwinn varsity conversion that crankset will do just fine.

however, you may want to make sure it matches your toptube pad, neon deep vs, chopped risers and ourys.

I'm not really sure why 160. Should I be getting another size? I was just afraid of pedal strike and trying to play it safe. I'm 5'6" and riding a 50cm frame. What size would be more adequate?

I'm 5'4" riding a 50cm frame, and I get by just fine with 170s on all my road bikes. My track bike is the only one with 165 cranks, and that's just what they came with. In my opinion, just about everyone can get by fine with 170s.
