Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Pista Concept '08 Fork Dropouts and Axle Compatibility

Alright so check it out, so my Bianchi Pista Concept 2008 comes in today, I had a Pista 2006 and tried swapping some stuff over to it, everything was good except the bottom bracket and front wheel. I figured out that my bottom bracket needed to be changed to 110x70mm to work with my crankset but haven't figured out the fork dropouts and axle (hub) for my front wheel. I have a pair of Velocity Deep V's and according to the mechanic, it will not allow my rounded axle to go into place, he mentioned something about replacing it with a flat axle.

So my question now is, are the axles (hubs) on Velocity Deep V's interchangeable so that I can put on the correct "flat axles" that he's talking about so that they fit into my fork dropouts? If so, which and where can I buy them? I know there's a bunch of people who own Bianchi Pista Concepts on here so I'm expecting to hear the best from you guys.

Alright, I just did a comparison with my Alex wheels and my Velocity Deep V wheels, when I was at the shop they tried putting on the Alex wheels and they said the axle bolt was too thick so I'd need flat axles. But after comparing the Velocity Deep V's and Alex axles, it looks like the Alex axles are slightly thicker, it's a very very little size difference so maybe the slight difference in the diameter of the Velocity Deep V axle will allow my wheels to fit the dropouts on my Pista Concept. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've seen many people with Velocity Deep V's on the front of their Pista Concepts! (By the way, I didn't have the Velocity Deep V's when I was at the shop because they weren't delivered to my house yet so I couldn't bring them over)

Relax, the tt pad is coming off, it's just staying on there while it's at the shop to protect the rad frame from being scratched on the top tube. As for the riser bars, give me a break, to each their own, I have dropbars that I'll use at the velodrome. In fact, I have some Nitto RB-019 bullhorns with the shims coming in within a few days. It's not being wasted, don't worry bout that. Go buy your own and fix it rather than 8itch at me online.

But wait, I always thought that Velocity Deep V's are rims, and to my knowledge rims don't have axles, or does Velocity make some rad high flange hubs too? If so, that thing in your second pic looks a lot like a Forumula hub to me...

**** that, we want all track drops, all the time!!! discomfort shmishcomfort, no one is riding their concept more than 15 miles at a time anyway!!!

as for the axles, dude, just file them down. the hubs are el-cheapo formulas anyway. i had to file my dura ace axles down to fit into my bridgestone njs extraordinaire, how do you think i felt about that!

Haha no doubt, it's all good! I just found out the answer to my question when my bro tried it out on his Pista Concept. He successfully put on the Velocity Deep V's on the fork drop outs on his. So it's just that the axles (hub, for the technical terminology) on the Alex wheels are just fatter, F--- those wheels anyways, it was the cheapy kind and being SOLD tomorrow.

Take that bad boy to the Velo Track and sport the risers!!! If you dont, Ill take my straight bar Pista there...more comfy anyways. It would be funny to see you passing someone up fully NJS, Keirin Ready, etc...and all of a sudden, you had risers! Ha.

I think the problem is that on the track, its much harder to pass anyone with risers. Especially considering you're giving off a pretty hefty draft, even if you do get in the lead.
