So there's all sorts of threads about weight loss, diet/nutrition information, caloric intake and expenditure, etc.

How many people here in the C&A forum aren't trying to lose weight? No matter what your reason: Either you're at a doctor's recommended optimum weight, or you're just not concerned with your weight, no matter what someone else says.

I'm 6'6" and weigh 235 pounds. I could stand to lose a few more to get to a "healthier" weight, as some might refer to it. I should be closer to 215 pounds... but I'm not trying to lose any more weight. My BP is fine, my RHR is fine, my cholesterol levels/ratios are fine, I'm not pre-diabetic or in danger of any heart conditions. My doctor has given me a clean bill of health at my current weight, stating that "minus the allergies, you're every bit as healthy as most people with 10% lower bodyfat."

I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing, just as I'm going about it now. If I happen to lose weight from riding more, then fine. If not, that's fine too.

6'1, 201.8lbs, 24.6% Body Fat. (as of this morning, anyway)

The 201.8 is perfectly fine, but I'd really like to be under 15% body fat.

At this point though, it seems I make quicker progress burning the candle from the weight loss end.

I am with Askel, as I want to get to a lower body fat %. I am not so worried about the weight, except it is NOT helping me with the running at all. I want to lose another 50, but my wife thinks 40 should be plenty. For once, she is WRONG. :0

After 2 years of no weight loss, I'm content with not losing weight. I am more concerned about maintaining some bit of good health.

5'11" and punishing wheelsets at 230lbs. And this is recent, last check I was at 22% body fat. Most of my weight is in my tree truck legs, and the fat is in my gut. Most people give me that "NO way, you don't way that much" when they find out my weight.

6'5" 235lbs. I'm at about where I want to be. More concerned with fitness/health. However I am aiming to reduce the small beer-belly, but wouldn't expect to lose much weight as I tend to gain it through muscle.

I'm not really concerned with losing weight. 6'1 and 245, I'm heavy and sure I'd like a flatter belly but that comes with hard training. Hard training only comes when I have a goal or target. No goals at the present time so all the riding is for funzies with the wife. Maybe I'm just getting old now at 45 (next month):D

I'm heavy but so what, I'm healthy and I can still rack out a century at any time:p

same situation with 1 inch and 10 lbs extra, everyone guesses about 30 less than i am. i care more about what i am capable of rather than a weight goal.

PS beanz ... that is a very skinny road...

I'm also in the category of not having a weight loss goal. If it happens nice, if not, no biggie. At 6' 265lbs., I could probably use to lose some of the weight. However, I was 225 a few years out of high school and starting going to the gym and jumped to 250. After moving to Washington, I jumped to 285. Bad, maybe, but I consider that weight the price of a bit extra stress and trying the variety of restaurants in the Seattle area. Not one bit do I regret it.

So for me, my goal is more of an image of how I want to look, such as the belly trimming down, perhaps bulk the arms and upper body a bit through some weight training, and getting myself into a healthier condition. To get that image, I'm guessing the weight will get down to about 235 or so. I'll also be eating healthier and exercising (biking mostly) of course, so cheers to the other riders that have the weight loss goals and are dropping the pounds. Just remember, sometimes to be healthy doesn't mean you have to fit a chart that says someone X age and X tall should weigh X lbs. We are all unique and so for many, those charts will be wrong.

So enjoy life and keep on riding.

I've had this converstaion with my doc: does BMI take into account frame shape? i'm 6'2", and 245. i ran a marathon 2 yrs ago, and never weighed less than 230. (maybe a lil less at the end from water loss...) my suitcoats are size 48 long. i don't think i'd look very healthy if i weighed 200 or less. anyway, running does hurt, but riding only breaks the bikes!

I'm 6' and currently 194 so I'm in a bit of a holding pattern. I'd like to get down to 185 for competition weight this season, but I'm not really trying anymore. I'm just trying to impove what I have so far.

6' 2" 235 lbs. I've lost about 10-15 lbs in the last few months. Not sure about my body fat %. Not sure if I will lose much more due to the weight training I've been doing. Basically I'm not that concerned with my weight so much as just getting into better shape and keeping myself there. I've cut almost all processed sugars out of my diet and I'm exercising 2-6 times a week. Cycling, gym, indoor rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, etc...

I'm 5'9", 199. I'm trying to get back over 200 and maintain less than 20% body fat. I ride mostly for fun, but I do hills to strengthen my legs. I'm looking to get into the 1000 club (BP + Squate + DL = 1000lbs).

I'm 6'3" 215 and looking to drop a bit more. Basically I want to drop more fat off my thighs since it's concentrated there.

I would love to lose some weight, but I am not concerned about it right now.

I am 6 ft even and 235, so there is weight to be lost for sure. I am in a great relationship and generally happy with my life, so the weight will come off when it does and I am not going to be concerned about it right now. I ride because I enjoy it, and I am not counting calories or cutting back on the other things I enjoy to help with the weight loss.

So while yes some drop would be nice, I am not doing anything specific to cause it to happen. Then again I have already dropped 5 lbs and even more importantly I am feeling much better and have a lot more energy day to day than I did before I got back into riding.

Weight is a number and people get far to tied up in it. Get healthy first. Then once you can actually do things you could not before, work on losing body fat by percentage. Ignore the scale because all it gives you is a number, and you can not compare your number to anyone else's and determine anything useful. Just because your friend is 20 lbs lighter does not mean they are more healthy, active, or fit. All it means is they are lighter.

It's the Santa Ana River Bike Trail, referred to as SART by us Socal'ers:D...30 miles one way, 60 roundtrip. Nice cause riders pass under streets and fwys. No crossing, no stopping, just pedaling!:D

I'm 6'4" and weigh 205. I barely qualify as a Clydesdale. I'd like to get down to 190 again (could I still post on this forum?) but it's not a big deal. I ride for fun and fitness.

6'7" / 275 lbs

I've tried to lose weight for most of my life......losing it isn't that hard, keeping it off IS! ....and this lifetime of frustration has ended for me.

I have basically given up on losing weight. I love to ride, but no matter how much I ride, I can't keep it off....so I've stopped trying. I'm happy, and all my numbers are really good, so I've decided that as long as my knees and lungs hold up, I'll be satisfied.....besides, I LOVE to eat! Cholesterol, b/p, heart, all good....no signs of diabetes....
