I love pink, but it only works in certain situations. Like on dress shirts, and certain shades of it. People just blew up the jon loves pink thing a little too much. I do have 2 pink dress shirts, 5 pink ties, pink tights, etc, etc. But those are the situations where pink is king. Duh. :p

I think this would make a great patch.

The logo overall would be the centerpiece of the jersey. All the information to be conveyed is in the centerpiece design. That leaves the rest of the the jersey to be filled in by either a really simple solid color or multi-color patterns ala the semi-custom designs.

One semi-custom design I've liked is Eden Bicycles' jersey.
This logo could fit into something like that.

Awwwww...I was liking the retro-futuristic font of the 1st logo...it conveyed speed to me...dunno why... the Romanesque font is so...plain :( Any way to make the poppy more recognizable?

How about listing all the climbs, North Bay, East, South, Peninsula on the jersey, but in a faded text behind the logo, and slowly fading out as it drops down towards the pockets? Does that make any sense?? You can say its dumb, it might make the jersey too busy, or look like it was laid down on a wet piece of newspaper, but I was just thinking of compromise since people liked the climbs idea, but not so much the listing, and that was mostly due to space on the logo (<-- which is killer by the way)

Or you could go with the climb idea, and just pick one from each region - Diablo for the east, Hamilton for the south, etc. Or, just go with the region's Big Three - Diablo, Tam, and Hamilton, and leave it at that. Sort of a "holy trinity" around that great looking poppy logo. That would be uniquely signature, and simplify things up a bit.

Another two thoughts re: the three mountains:

1)you could try Mountt Diablo - Mount Hamilton- Mount Tam across the top, in that order, to balance it out (better symmetry?).

2) "Mt Diablo - Mt Hamilton" on the top half of the circle, and "Mt Tamalpias" on the bottom half - the fully spelled name to fill up the space.

That's good, but you need to add every road in Nor Cal, and the names and avitars of the NorCal BF cyclists. And maybe small photos of their bikes. And kids names. And partners names. Maybe our email addresses too. And a picture of the state, and the USA cause we live here, ya know. And the Earth because we're all in this together, even if we are NorCal. And a penguin. And a kitten, maybe a few from LOLcats. And a puppy, I like puppies.

Also, most of us have a favorite color, and it should be used somewhere on the jersey as well.

The first to go is the faded text in the background, since I don't imagine it'll come out well printed, anyway.

I'm keeping the mountains on top. For the bottom, maybe we could come up with the top six or seven items, things that are really can't-miss-es or are really Northern California.

Personally, I like the poppy logo and the three major peaks idea. Simple and recognizable as "Northern California" specific. As others have said, there are too many climbs, too many centuries.

How about the mountains in the top half of the circle, "Northern California" across the middle, and move "bikeforums" to the bottom half of the circle?

Oh, and my favorite color is blue. :D

I actually like the larger fonts for the mountains. It depicts the epic climbs compared to "smaller" climbs underneath. It gives separation between both types. Just saying.

Late to the party, as usual. So here is my $.02 worth:

Both designs that have emerged are good - really good. I'd buy either one.

Having said that, I prefer the Peugeot-inspired one - you know, with the checkerboard. Classy, simple, bold, easily identifiable. This does not mean I don't like x136's design - I just like this one better.

As for x136's design, I think it would look better if the logo (great logo!) was on the front and back both (I also like the plainer, second-gen text better than the more "futuristic" one, but I'm clearly outvoted and that certainly is no deal-breaker.) I also like the fade-in/fade-out listing of the various hills/roads. Again, not a deal-breaker.

Oh, and I still think last year's design was awesome. I'm sorry to have missed the boat on that one.

Instead of "Mount Tam - Mount Diablo - Mount Hamilton", how about "Tamalpais - Diablo - Hamilton" With the full spelling of Tamalpais, it fills the space pretty well, especially with a larger font!

WRT the list of climbs, howzabout each contingent (North Bay, East Bay, South Bay, and Peninsula" each choose two "signature" climbs for their region (and apologies to those outside the Bay Area). These would be the ones that EVERYONE rides, and can identify with.

And also apologies if this is redundant - I just skimmed the EIGHT PAGES of posts on this.

BTW, when choosing a color for the shorts, remember the Polish Cycling Team picture.

For the Peninsula, I'd suggest Old La Honda and Tunitas Creek
