2008 BikeForums Northern California Jersey Type Thing Interest/Discussion Thread.

There's been some hubbub (bub) about a new jersey for this year, and there was demand for a thread, so here it is.

Who wants one? Who wants to organize it? Who wants to design it? Who wants a beer?

I would buy one, but I'd like to see some colors other than black and yellow. Maybe we can get some kind of graphic on the back showing the ocean with giant mountains in the back, or some other kind of landscape.

You seem to ignore the huge asian influence and minority in the bay area. An asian-esque wave would be very appropriate for the jersey.

My only thing is I wish we could find a site that'll do the design on a MTB jersey aswell. Road jerseys are not my cup of tea.

Even though I am not in NORCAL, I would like to get one as well as long as its not pink. I got the last norcal jersey, it was fabulous. I think I would like bibs too this time around.

I think the hokusai image is awesome, but I also think it'd be a bit much on a jersey. I'd be glad to have a look at a design though!

What else is very Norcal? Bridges... Mountains... Hmmm. Maybe we could have sillhouettes of the 3 big peaks in the background with the 5 bridges radiating out below? I guess that's kinda Bay-Area specific as opposed to NorCal in general, but might be cool... I'm no designer, or I'd show you what I'm thinking :D

Aren't these designs fairly limited in how complex they can be? Something to keep in mind. Needs to be a strong concept that can be expressed in a fairly simple way, or at least with a small amount of colors.

Well you can't really put a picture of a human being on them. But other than that, 3 color limit, sky is the limit.

Hmm interesting concept. If everyone designed a small avatar to represent them.

Whomever wants the jersey can design one and it can be places on the jersey.

Then have some kind of central theme in the middle with the norcal on it.

I thought ChampSys did Graham Watson's TdF pics on a couple-three of their jerseys? Wouldn't that make an outright picture possible as one of their custom designs?

The front could have a penguin or whatever.

Then we could either randomly put the avatars on the front and back, or put them all in line and row order onthe back. Like it's listing the team.

How about a design using the SF skyline but kind of fogged out with NorCal kind of floating above in the fog. Of course the skyline would include landmarks like the Transamerica bldg, Coit Tower, maybe Lombard St. and stuff like that... maybe have the bridge in the deep back ground but not as prevelant since we used it last time.

I just don't know how to design these things so I'll leave it up to someone more savvy to come up with an actual picture/rendering.

Or just have a design utilizing a stylized skyline, sans the fog, with NorCal above it. The landmarks would be bled altogether so we can retain a single color on the jersey. Say... white picture on a blue jersey or vice-a-versa.

Just a thought since we want to keep it NorCal related.

Actually, they do indeed create full on photographic jerseys. Avatars would be a problem because they are small low-res images. But you could do any photo, or photographic image that had enough resolution.
