I am wanting to move to a new aparment soon. I have four bikes up and running right now. How would I get from point a to point b if I were to move everything entirely by bike? I am thinking I could put the bike in a bike trailer and tow it. I would make several trips this way. Anyone have any experience?

What kind of trailer do you have access to? I have a friend who puts two roof rack trays on a bob trailer. something like a flatbed you could rig up some bike mounts with a couple old front hubs and some u-bolts.

I recall previous posts about riders riding one bike while steering another alongside them. Only problem was cops assuming they had just stolen the second one!

you can remove the front wheel of a bike you would like to tow, and fasten the front fork to your rear rack, then strap the front wheel to the frame of the towed bike.

This has been covered in previous discussions. If you've got a trailer, put the other bike on the trailer & tie it down good for the ride. Repeat as nessisary with the other bikes.

I'm actually thinking about doing this, if I can score a Thule or Yakima setup, and mounting it to my converted child-hauler. It would be great for fetching a broken bike to the shop, or taking a MTB to a more distant trailhead, on a ride that's more suited for a touring or road bike. Definitely worth looking into, as I think that two bikes could fit side-to-side without the fuss and bother of laying them down and getting them tangled, as always seems to happen to me.

I've done some towing before. I own a Burley Flatbed. Back in October, I was working on getting a winter bike together. The bike was a hybrid of a walmart mountain bike and a 1950's cruiser. The walmart bike frame and front wheel with the rear wheel, drivetrain, and coaster brake from the cruiser on MTB tires. all of the parts of both bikes were rigged on top of the trailer behind my commuter bike.

I also towed a Scwinn Varsity from a used bike shop, with the front wheel removed and the dropout lined up with the rear rack.

Could you please post some links. Searching for this type of thing is difficult because phrases like " carry bike with bike" or "haul bike with bike" contain lots of words which come up in all sorts of threads.

I am looking to transport my BMX some how so I could cycle to skate park in a more comfortable fashion that riding my BMX for 1= 15 miles. I don't have trailer and live in a small flat so have no room for a trailer. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have room for an Xtracycle? Otherwise, a front hub u-bolted on a rear rack should make a decent bike tow truck. Or for a BMX the Trail-Gator tow bar mentioned in the above thread.

Thank you Maxwell. Reading that thread is useful, I have a old front hub so I think I'l buy a rack and try that method.

Re an extra cycle. I would like one but another bike would not go down with the girlfriend, I have a fixed wheel road bike (most used), a fixed / single speed mbt a BMX and a geared road bike all of which get used believe it or not! One day I'll live in a house with a big garage! Plus the other trouble with the extracycle is the price, $400 extracycle is £400 over here so very expensive. I know there are import costs but it still seems alot to double the price when importing.

Could you build your own version of an xtracycle? There are threads on this forum showing how to do it. Are you willing to modify one of your current bikes?
