I know this is the route for the MS150 to the beach, but I have never rode it before and I was wondering how the route is. I can't find much info online.

Is there a wide shoulder most of the way there? How long are the 'freeway' like areas? (I saw a pic of 181 going across the bridge into CC and it looked like there was no shoulder and possibly high-speed lanes.)

I've been thinking of going solo from San Antonio to Corpus in a few months, and could use any advice - including gas stations, etc. Thanks for any input :)

We just rode that route last month. The shoulder of 181 is pretty good for the most part, and I remember it being a safe route, with nice rolling hills. But the North side of Beeville has some wicked rough chipseal. The kind that puts your hands, feet and butt to sleep. And we only rode as far as Portland. I don't think trying to ride accross the bridge into CC is either allowed or advisable.

Barlows,

When you went through, had they finished the construction down near Sinton yet? Was there new asphalt between Sinton and Portland?
