Hello All,
At work we are having a biggest loser contest and final weigh in is in July. I figure this is as good a time as any to get started being healthy again. I weighed 190 lbs when I got married. I now weigh 259! I have two kids 5 and 10 and they are old enough now that they like to ride also. I ride with them on my mountain bike. I just bought the road bike to get in shape. I had a Cannondale about 12 years ago and was doing about 20 miles every other day, but then we had kids and things really slowed down.
The bike is a Scattante R560 from Performance Bike. On my scale it weighs around 19 lbs with pedals. I will let you know how it holds up. I have lots of hills in this area so hopefully I will get in shape quickly.

Getting started is easy. It's keeping going that's hard.

+1 Have you set some goals for yourself?

Set your plan, make it realistic and then COMMIT!

You make a promise to yourself that you will do this.

Remember as well that life WILL get in the way from time to time and you'll have setbacks, so don't beat yourself up when they do happen. :D

My goals are to get below 200 lbs. It has been since I was 26 that I weighed less than 200. I am now 44 and I think it is time. My ultimate goal is to learn how to fly. Being smaller makes things easier in that world(or just about any world).
Another goal is to be able to ride in a diabetes awareness or MS ride. My son has type 1 diabetes and anything I can do to make his life easier is worth it to me.
I guess my ultimate goal is just to be fit and not have to think about how much I weigh. It has bugged me for a long time and now it is time to do something about it.

Thanks,
Bill

You can do it!

If life had a manual...it would say "For a healthy lifestyle, ride your bicycle at least three times a week."

And I should apologize for those ignorant Texan drivers...most of them don't know what this form of emission free transportation, exercise, fun, is doing on a public roadway.

Safe riding!
