Hello all, My wife and I have put about 1800 miles on our rode bikes. The tires are definately wearing out now and it is time to replace them. The bikes came with Vitoria Tecno Sport TT but I am not really happy with them (they seem to get cuts in the tread fairly easily).

What are some tire recommendations for a couple of older riders (we are not racers but do like to go for 20 - 50 mile rides every week.)

I don't knwo the vitoria tecno sport off-hand, what are you looking for in a tire?

If you like to run high pressure I really like the Vredestein Forteza.

If you want flat protection one of the best is the Specialized Armadillo, another good option is teh Continental Gatorskin.

I just got rid of one of my vittoria rubino pros for the same reason, too soft a tread and they were getting shredded with <2months use. I just got a specialized tire, not sure the model, but Ive only heard good things about specialized tires. I had vredestein tires on my old bike, cant remember the model but I didnt have a flat on them in 6 months use before I sold the bike.

Try some Continental GP 3000's. They are very puncture resistant for every day bitumen riding. They are also foldable so this makes them easy to get on and off the rim. They also come in a few different colours. However they are at the upper end of the price range.

CHEERS.

Did the cuts result in flats, or cut the casing (the threads underneath the rubber)? Some is normal and to be expected... it's more about what you have to ride thru. Tires like Conti Gatorskins and Specialized Armadillos are tougher, but you sacrifice somewhat in weight and ride quality.

Thanks guys, we do like the high pressure (low resistance) think I might try the Vredestein Forteza. A guy on ebay is selling for $68.95 w/ shipping.

Just completed transaction and purchased 4 Vredestein Forteza's from biketiresdirect.com for $127.68 including shipping. I will let you know what I think of them after I ride them for a while. Thanks again for all the imput.

Oh and Roadbuzz, they were cut in several places with a couple on 2 of the 4 tires through the casings. On the up side they did last 1800 miles and they were the stock tires on the bikes.
