At least it doesn't sound like a hit and run, may he rest in peace.

Bicyclist found dead on side of road
Brodhead - Green County authorities are investigating the case of a bicyclist found dead along a rural road in the town of Spring Grove.

The sheriff's department says a passing motorist called yesterday about 4 p.m. after finding the body and a bicycle in the ditch line along Hoosier Road.

He's identified as 46-year-old William McKee of rural Brodhead.

Sheriff's officials say the preliminary investigation indicates he was going downhill on the bicycle while towing a small trailer and he lost control, left the roadway, fell and suffered a fatal injury.

An autopsy is planned.

Yes.

That's awful, am very sorry to read that.

Next go to Youtube and search 'autopsy' and watch one. (yes it's graphic, and real).

Why do this to this unfortunate cyclist? Does it matter if he had a heart attack
or hit a rock? What's the point? Give the man some respect and let him rest in peace.

If not currently under the care of the doctor, it is required by law.

Autopsies *are* very unpleasant to think about. Forensic medicine is not something I could ever do.

They're also very important for protecting the person who discovered the body from murder charges. It's not uncommon for a murder to be reported by the murderer, who claims to have "discovered the body". And well, I'd hate to think of an innocent person being tried for murder when an autopsy can clear them.

Sometimes, unpleasant things are necessary.

The report above states "suffered a fatal injury". I understand the law requirement, but a very thorough examination can be done without going through the extreme. Condolences to the family.
