Triathlon - When do most tri's hang it up?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Say you're at a 100 person event, at about what age level do you start seeing less than 5 people of that age or older?
Funny I'm 45 and starting back up.

my guess is it falls off fast at mid 60's but that's an uninformed guess

Last year I talked with a 60-yo woman that said both her and her husband started entering triathlons in their late50's. I did my first tri last Dec at age 55.
I did my first tri about age 52 or 53, then a series of sprints in mid-fifties, and began Olys at age 61 and my first HIM at age 62.

Not sure I understand the poll but I just marshalled a 300-strong pool-swim sprint, and there were easily 4 guys and 2 women over 65, and I'd have pegged two of the guys as late 70s pushing 80. Legends.
