I'm kind of fond of my Topeak Whitelight

They make a red one too, but I just use a regular clip on blinkie in back.

Definitely not bright, but I love mine. I kept breaking headlights, then spent 10 dollars (considerably less than in the past) and havent had a problem since. I usually only need them to be legal at nights, but they definitely dont do much on the occasion when you need to see the road

Because it is posted at least once a week and Knogs are more hip than aerospokes and TT pads. Plus it's cool the be unsafe but fashionable :)

My whitelite just died. I coughed up the dough and bought the bullfrog and toad combo from knog. Very bright and weird looking. I put my black frog on my rear hub and so I have a disco ball effect.

Since there's not really anything else to contribute, I think I'll say that I can't wait to see what happens when the rider of that bike gets hit with a 20 mph crosswind.

I have two frogs on the front bars and run them in blinky mode. Just so cars have something to see, they definitely aren't going to help me navigate the dark alleys that I've read about but never ventured into.

On the back, it's the Planet Bike red blinky. What else is there?

In terms of brightness. They suck. There's no way you can recommend these as a primary light. They have zero reflector or lens elements. Basically one underpowerd LED only vaguely suitable as a running light.

Yeah they look cool and all but get the turtles instead: they are what the knogs should be for a low powered light:

Nearly worthless, in blinking mode as well. If you want something brighter than a superflash for the rear go pickup a dinotte tailight. Please do yourself a safety favour and get a real front light before you get hit by a car.

Those little Nashbar turtle things may not be bright, but they're better than nothing. I also have a full-size Cateye light, but it has a tendency to slip on the bars and point straight down at the street.

Knog Frogs are not to be used as your only source of light, they are a good supplement to a real light.

I'm not even talking about if you are trying to use the light to see, even if you are just trying to be seen by other road users the Frogs are NOT enough. Unless you put like 10 of them front and rear, but if you do that I get to call you a ******...

Whoever built that bike is certainly a ******... Sorry, just wanted to call someone that today, and my mission is already accomplished at 7:46am, sweet.

38million candelpower, burns skin, needs special uv filters. and can light stuff up more than 6000m away. just need a good bike mount for it.

Yep. And every time you see a thread titled "What kind of seatpost is this," you know it's going to be about the Miche Supertype.

The Knog lights sucks. Don't waste your money, unless you want little white bubbles on your bike that do nothing. If you want for cars to see you, get a Planet Bike Super Flash and deal with it.

The front and rear Specialized Tri-Spoke (now the Hed tri-spoke, since they bought the design) were one and the same. The only difference was a little black piece that covered the threading on "front" wheels. However, he does have his wheel on backwards, and that cog on the other side is "suicide" threaded (no room for a lockring).

Just saw that, hows the spacing work?

Since old Specialized tri-spokes were interchangeable, all one has to do is remove two spacers from what would otherwise be a rear wheel, and it'll become a front wheel.

Yes, for the rear. YOu'll have to look elsewhere for a decent front.

princeton tec eos or aurora. pretty bright and they also come with helmet mounts for really wanting to see where you're going.

I'd get Knog Frogs for my forks just for bling purposes (I run an L2D-CE and Superflash) but they'd get stolen so it's not worth it. And taking them off every time I lock up is out of the question.

Check out Fenix lights, they're awesome for riding, sound booth/backstage work, and caving (at least that's what I use them for).

I was given red and white frogs as a gift and run them in addition to my regular red and white blinky. I figure it's just additional light, might as well. They're also nice to throw in my saddle bag on the road bike in case it starts getting dark at the end of a ride. Better something than nothing.

I just find it sad that such a cool frame is built up as a jackass daily rider. I know lots of people here won't appreciate the frame, but it is pretty rad for what it is designed for. This is not what it is designed for.

Those dinotte lights are so expensive, what would someone on here recommend that may be a little bit cheaper and serve as a main source of light on a bike.

I have no idea but the are the lights on the MASH website any good? the rechargeable USB one.

Knog Frogs are garbage and I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone. I ran one on my bike before I knew any better and I've since found similarly sized lights with TWO LEDs for half the price. The knogs are not bright enough for a car to realistically see them in city conditions and they're overpriced.

I bought one of these for a tail light, but one night my wife drove up behind me and told me she could barely see the flashing red blinks. This product is a poor excuse for a light. Spend the $10 elsewhere and buy a real light for a couple dollars more.

What about those bars. I need some short ones for my current build, except in silver. Do people just buy risers and hack them down? And my son wants bright grips (e.g. yel, green, pink) - where can I find wild grips?

these (the velcro version) are a decent cheap/small alternative. i use a red and a white one on the seatpost, and as long as you keep them on blink with fresh batteries, they're pretty bright.

i'm not 100% sure if you're allowed to have a white light on back, but it helps a lot, so **** it.

I've had Cateye lights and Planet Bike lights
but nothing beats the VEGA from Light and Motion.

I was lucky and snagged one off Chainlove for 80 or so.
That's the front light.
I'm still using the rear Planet Bike light.

And using lighting just to be "legal" is a silly position I used to be guilty of taking as well. If you HAVE to run a light, there's no reason not to run a decent one that cars can see you with and not run you down. I'm not a fan of big bulky lights but for being able to get something several magnitutes brighter than a frog in the same small package, it doesn't make much sense to go with the dimmer more expensive version.
