I'll be shooting pics or video of the 4/5, 3, and 1/2/3 at MenoFalls despite the rain. WHich way to they run? If it's CCW, that last turn is a killer ... big rock on the inside with trees on the outside ... wow! How Euro. :) Looks like a fast course, but twisty enough to encourage breakaways. I think if you can get 30 seconds, you're out of sight most of the time.

Will get what I can of Great Dane 2. Gotta work Sat. night, so will prob. just catch the 3's and 2's.

A few guys did get off into the gravel on the exit of this turn on lap one. Then course workers put up cones and spoiled the fun.

I saw dave342 there before my race. I got 16th. Bleh. The Wisconsin cup series is looking very out of reach. Points are 10 deep. I'd at least like a few points though. I'll get em tomorrow.

I was at Meno Falls Crit. I sucked it up, but it was my first race. I did get learned! And I liked it so much I'm gonna go get learned again soon!

Nice pics. I heard about the crash in the 3's he really messed up his helmet pretty bad. Said hi to recursive after my race. I'll be in the masters 4/5 race so if I see a guy taking pics I'll say hi. We also had a crash in our race it was to the right of me and back, it was loud too. Finished 17th.

Need to catch a few hours of ZZZZZ's after working last night, then hammer over to Madison. Hope to catch the Masters 1/2/3, but for sure will see the 3's and 2's. Looks like a great day for bike racing!!

Apparently, a guy got his front wheel severely stuck in some other guy's chainrings somehow. I heard the story from my team mate who was involved. It took a good while to extricate the bikes, and was apparently hilarious.

I saw dave342 race today. He was doing masters 4/5, which was before my race. It was a big field and a fast race. He asked me to check his results. (you got 32nd)

And big ups to my man frunkin. Nice job.

My race: I felt okay during the race. There were a lot of breaks that looked promising. I chased a couple of them down. Both times, it went the same way. In each case, I started from 10 or 15 back and saw a guy preparing to launch off the front. It was actually the same guy both times. I would pass the front of the field with enough speed difference to discourage anyone else. I got on the dude's wheel, who took me half way there. He flicked his elbow, and I took us the rest of the way. Both of the breaks looked reasonably promising, but they both died within a couple of laps.

Eventually seven guys got up the road in what would turn out to be the winning move, but I wasn't there. I hung in the pack without doing much work for a while and waited for the sprint. This course ends with a ~800m downhill, fast right turn, and then a 200m uphill finish. I think I was about 20 back in the field coming down the hill, not ideal. After I came around the corner, my sprint was feeling good, but I was having trouble finding empty road to work with. I was feeling more limited by the traffic than my legs. I picked my through and sprinted up the gutter, and took what seemed like 15 places before the line, for 4th in the field. With the 7 man break, that was good for 11th.

Sorry for the long post. I know botto wouldn't approve of all the analysis and crap.

I was in the cat 5 race yesterday. For anyone who saw it, I was the one on the stock trek 1000 - yes, kinda embarassing, but I took 6th I think so not too shabby... I attacked on the last lap a bit too soon ,and was in first place but then died before the finish line and lost like 5 places.

I really need a better ride, or at least some wheels, but I also need a mtn bike.
