So who's working late today cuz some moron engineer forgot to send his material in on time for testing and now I have to sit here and machine tensiles and charpies till 10pm. I'm getting drunk with my bro up here what's my dad gonna do fire us!!

Yeah I did that kinda stuff when I was younger. Refinery work working 7 12s and then back to back 12s. Now I don't need the money just time wit my family, but not the family I work with. I see then enough.

Well to be fair it was desk work and not refinery work. 7/12s are brutal when working any length of time on that sched.

Yeah I went back to work for my family. We own an Metallurgical engineering firm, it's kinda like american chopper but with a masters degree.

the popes visit resulted in all my jobs for the day being canceled. however, as i showed up for work i get my minimum 8 hours pay...yes :) ! been loafing around all day.

At least you can have a pint at work. I would get canned for that (or at least sent to rehab). It was such a nice day today, though, that I left at 2. I made $150 drinking beer and downloading pron at home until my regular quitting time.

Eeep! It's one thing to have an accident at home, but at work, the various governing bodies will come down on you like a ton of bricks - on the company too - especially if an empty beer bottle is found.

Back in my youth, bong hits and pints were part of the work day at some jobs I held (hell, even in my 30s while taking a lengthy break from my past and current career), but the world has changed, unfortunately. I miss those days. Oh well, I'm due to retire with a full pension in about 9 years. My wife is half my age, so she can work and I'll ride my bikes and play my guitars and life will be good again.:p

i worked at a factory making slack adjusters for airbrakes many years ago. 12 hour days, 7 days a week. saw many a finger disappear and one guy lose his arm around an industrial drill press. there was much drinking at that place. and coke too...it was nuts.

Back when I made copies, sometimes we'd get a huge job in with a tight turn time, I'd work 20+ hrs in a day and sometimes I'd accidently make copies of my hand:o

Yeah but work back to back to back shifts has been done since work was invented. 3 x 24 =48 and 2 hrs more BAMMM the magic 50!! Believe me it's been done, red bull, stimucrank, meth, take your pick.

That's quite a feat seeing as how there are only 24 hours in a day.

Except that when you work as long of a "day" as I regularly did, you forget how long you have been awake because by the 36-48th hour, you are so amped up on caffine and stress that you could care less when the last time you got sleep was.

It was the 30 minute drive home that was killer. No stress and lots of open highways meant a really boring and potentially hazardous drive home.

I worked at a big hotel during Christmas time. I was the supervisor in charge of setting up and taking down all the tables and stages and junk for all the big parties. I didn't go home for a few days straight. I did get to sleep for an hour or so at a time (on the clock), so that was nice.
