Hey all, I have a new pair of Sidi Genius 5's, and haven't had to adjust the cleat position in about 10 years on the old shoes. I just traced the outline with a razor blade when I replaced the Look cleats. What is the best way to approximate the old setup on the new shoes? Should I do a Fit Kit? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Ben

If the old cleats are on the old shoe simply measure the distances & move those numbers to the new shoes. Measure on the old shoes from the furthest part of your heel to the center of the cleat. Write that number down, for me in my size 43's its 171mm. That is the fore/aft of your cleat setup.
Next, measure how far over from the inside of the shoe, the widest part, to the center of the cleat. mine is 42mm.

To set up the new cleats I would measure from the heel up to 171mm for fore/aft, then over from the inside of the shoe (inside foot, widest part of shoe) over 42mm. Nowmy cleats are in the same position.
Pay attention to the cleat angle for how your feet like to sit on the pedals. Take a picture of the old shoes with cleats attached for reference.

Here is what I learned from a bike fitter:

Stand in your new shoes.
Have someone feel the large bone on the side of the foot by the big toe.
Place a piece of tape there.
Do the same with the bone protrusion behind the small toe.
Place another piece of tape there.
Use a straight edge between the two marks.
That should run through the center of the new cleat.

That cost me $35 to learn. Simple and straight forward. Works on my dominators and my genius's.

I will try those methods and see how it works out. Thanks!
