Got my wife's Giant Boulder SE down from the garage hook and grabbed my new FCR and we headed out to a local park to put the van and hit one of the local trails. 7mi. one way, went full distance and back. Total of about 15 mi. That's about 10 mi. over anything I've done before. What a rush! I can't believe how much Iv'e been missing out not getting on a bike this past years.

We're going to try to do that together every Sat. AM since my mother comes in now and watches the youngin's. I'll still get out and do my little runs, but even though I know I'll be sore and worn tomorrow it was so worth it. We've decided that we're going to work on in the next 24-36 mos. getting ourselves in shape to do a metric century together.

That's quite a step up from your past rides! Good job :D .

Keep it up! Two years ago I started and was doing 10 mile rides. Today I did a 50 miler, the first 20 of which were with (literally) a bunch of mountain bike racers on wet gravel and had no problem keeping up. Granted I'm sure their effort was at a level 5 while I was at a 8 :)

It definitely pushed me a bit since I haven't gone that far before, but getting my wife involved now makes it a hobby for the both of us. She coudln't figure out on our last "push" at the end why I blew her away - she now wants slicks on her boulder or a hybrid. I'm going to keep an eye on CL for a hybrid for her - she's 6' and she normally prefers a men's bike since she's taller.

Nice ride, Givin' me something to shoot for.

My gal's tall too, so I know what you mean. She's got a men's bike, but on it...

She's all woman.

Yow!

I'll have to get her out riding with me soon.

Darn right she's all woman! LOL

Thanks for the reply RD! Takin' the Mrs. today to have her ride some hybrids to see if that's what she really would want vs. her Boulder. Her's is going in the shop for a much-need look over and tune-up.
