Today was a busy day for the volunteer bike group. Many did the biking program, a few participated in the Earth Day events and 4 of us rode in the Maple Sugar Festival parade. We spent most of our time riding from the parking lot to the parade staging area then riding back to our cars. Scattered showers have been passing through the area all day but not a drop fell on us:)
Here's the elevation for the ride. The actual parade route is between 1.5 and 2.0 miles. The town is located in a valley and we parked at a school at the top of a hill near the edge of town. The parade was slow so there was a lot of stop and go riding. We even talked about getting training wheels for future parades....

This is the truck we followed. Be sure to notice the bike rider is wearing a helmet:D

The kids along the route seemed to enjoy the characters in the truck.

Afterward we headed to a local restaurant for lunch then home to prepare for another ride. If the rain holds off we'll be doing a Moonlight Ride in a neighboring county at 8:00pm. There are still several showers in the area but according to radar they'll be going south of us:)
I love events like this and look forward to more parades they have scheduled for us this summer. I don't know how it happened but I've been appointed the parade coordinator for the group. I may be delegating some of the work to others:rolleyes:
