Do any of you have this computer and if you do, what do you think of it? Im thinking about getting one and was just wondering what your thoughts on this particular brand were.

My favorite computer ever. I've bought several of their protege's in the past and just bought the protege 9 wireless which i have yet to install.
I like them because they are the easiest to use and show the most info at one time.
And the price is great!
Only thing I wish they had was a backlight.

My favorite computer ever. ... And the price is great! ...

+1 to both of those.

I've had one on the road bike for a couple years. I just ordered another mounting kit for $8 so I can use it on the mountain bike, too. It seems like JensonUSA.com usually has the best price. I'm not affiliated with them ... just a happy customer.

There are 2 models out there- old and new. Old has a brownish gray case, new one has a white case. You want the white one. Performance bike has the old one, Nashbar has the new white one. Paid 24.95 for mine at Nashbar. Has a very clear face to see the numbers and even with no back lit- which "would" be a great improvement, you can see the numbers well when going under a light source in the dark with little or no problem. I use it for odometer, speed and temperature. Turns out temp really helps me out with comfort via clothing choice when on the bike. Helps to know how your body functions at what temp, along with- is it my imagination or is it really $^^&^&* cold out here or what! Windy day of course can throw all that off...... Temp gage is quite accurate, although sometimes takes a small amount of time to get adjusted from inside to outside temp. Temp is highly accurate- tested it quite a few times with my portable digital thermo. Some people want wireless. I tried wireless- too much interference. Parked my bike next to a cash register terminal- while standing still, the wireless unit was reporting the bike was traveling about 85 mph! and the odometer was moving up fast! So much for wireless and its interference problems- went back to wired, cheaper and more accurate....Also, thought the slider thing concept would be a problem, turns out not to be the case, works fine when you get used to it, and does not disengage from the bracket when you don't want it to. Easy to reset the time when you need to..... You will be happy with the new white 9.0

I have it and I love it. My first bike computer was a Cateye which only showed two numbers at a time, so I had to push the control button often to cycle through everything I wanted to see. The Protege 9.0 displays all 5 numbers that I care about the most at the same time, so I only have to push it at the end of my ride when I want to see the additional stats and reset it for the next ride.

I really like having the temperature display. It's not always accurate when it gets hit by direct sunlight, but for overcast or night commuting during the winter months it's really helpful to know how far above or below freezing the temperature is so I know how vigilantly to watch for ice.

Does it mount on all size handlebars.? When I was looking for computers and lights I had to review whether they would fit large diameter handlebars standard, additional cost to purchase optional bracket, or not at all.

I've found the thermometer to be useless, with its readings to be way off. Not much price difference from the 8.0 that doesn't have it. Otherwise it's a nice, simple, easy to use computer that I have set on all my wifes' bikes. If you have problems turning it on during the initial setup, go to their website. They have instructions on how to deal with a sticking button for programming.
