I'm moving to Philly for the summer at the beginning of June. I'll be working near Liberty Square. I'd like to live as close to work as possible, but if I find an awesome neighborhood I could be persuaded. Anyone what the cool/not too expensive neighborhoods are around there? Thanks.

what the hell does this have to do with cycling?

My goal is to live a short bike ride from the office, but aside from that, very little. Just like zombies, katanas, tattoos, or the music everyone is listening to. Which are all other threads in this forum. For future reference, "OT" means "off topic." But I appreciate all your help. Really, you've been a big help.

Stuck, pay 'em no mind. I take it you mean Liberty Place (17th and Market)? If so, real estate within a short hop of that is expensive- that would be Rittenhouse Square, Logan Circle, and the Art Museum neighborhood. I don't know how much you want to budget for this- either $s or time for your commute- that info would be helpful. So, here are the questions that I think would help you:
1. Rent or buy?
2. How much do you want spend (purchase price or monthly rent)?
3. How much time do you want to commit to commuting?
4. How do you feel about riding in city traffic?
5. Would you want to have a public transportation option available in case of lousy weather?
6. How close do you want to be to the trails or good roads for recreation?

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss, or if you want to discuss it in here, that's good too.

Northern Liberties? Sometimes you can find bargains in South Philly. Depending on what kind of living arrangements you're open to, perhaps West Philly around Drexel/UPenn?

I lived in the art museum area for several years and loved it - close to Kelly Drive and Fairmount Park and at closest, I'd say, a 1/2 mile walk from Liberty Place. A decent one-bedroom will cost around a grand a month.

The other side (the south side) of Liberty Place is cheaper.

Not the easiest place to ride, but there are some great rides outside the city.
