lock your helmet, shoes, and keys in your truck 20 minutes before your race starts.

How about this one?

-Never leave your wallet containing your racing lisence and cash in your car when you're driving with someone else to a race.

You end up racing DT?

I luckily came home, mowed the grass, started painting my stairwell(19' celings no less). Oh wait, I should have raced.

Since I drive a hooptie, I'd have broken the window out.

Wait, my hooptie's drivers door and tailgate don't lock anyways.

I got 4.7 miles in on lap one and flatted. That sucked!

i got really lucky. my first idea was to go to one of the police officers manning the corners. i saw the ambulance crew and asked them if they had a radio or something. they all agreed that the police and sherriffs no longer carry the car opening equipment, and my best bet was keith's towing. one of the people there had his number on speed dial! while i was waiting for him (lived only 4 miles away), i pumped up tires, and got everything ready that i could. while putting on bibs, i heard a junior and his family exclaim that they too had locked their keys in the car. i told them not to worry, that i had done the same thing and help was on the way. they were both happy and kind of confused. the guy showed up as the 1/2/3's rolled out. he popped open my door in less than 15 seconds, i gave him my AAA card, got my brain protector and shoes, and was off. (i later saw the junior on the course, so i think he made it to the line in time as well) i got to the line, no hr strap, no arm warmers, no gloves, etc. i actually wasn't too bad during the race except for the rough section on the backside. cold hands and rough riding = bad.

i had a lot of fun. the more aggressive you ride, the easier the race is. weird.

so that means you passed our group after the wrong turn. eyyyaaahhh. that was bad. after the turn, the motorcycle shoots ahead of us, and then just stopped --> some guys had to cyclocross to stay upright. then there was debate for the rest of the race as to wether or not there was a solo breakaway ahead.

I know three people who locked their keys in the car before bike races this season. Two of them parked next to each other. Painful to see that.

Dunno if you heard the end of that tale. There was a solo breakaway -- one of the Turner juniors took that moment to slip away and gain some time before we got turned around and straightened out. He might've gotten away with it, too, since it was a little ambiguous whether we were truly neutralized or not. Except that he also drafted off the cat 4 break for a good while, during which the moto official saw him and tried to tell him to return to our pack. The junior said he couldn't make out what the ref was saying and kept riding. Poor guy -- only 17, he was a little foggy on what was kosher and what wasn't, and when he crossed the line ahead of us he thought he'd won his first race. It wasn't until half an hour after the finish that the ref told him he was relegated. Some puffy eyes going on.

I chatted with you briefly at the end. You said you felt fine, but man, you were covered in goosebumps, arms and legs. Hope you got warm, and glad that you made it! Dunno if you remember, but you, me, and one of your teammates were briefly in one of the many shortlived break attempts.

I once locked my "will to race" in the car. Completely sucked. There it was, sitting in the back seat peering back at me like a scared puppy wondering if it was going with me. That day I decided to go without it.

yeah then he let you guys re-pass us later on. at least you had a porsche lead car. one thing i've noticed 2 weeks in a row is that ohiovally has got to do better with cars at the finish line during a sprint. at 5-700 yards there were 2 vehicles blocking the road. they got moved before we finished but it messes with your head seeing that getting ready to unload a sprint.

Turner Logistics. The irony of thier sponsor vs their racing makes me laugh.

I'm going to wager a guess that the kid didn't do what he did on accident.

One of their kids was a lap back at PUR Tour's junior race last year and when he was passed by the two leaders, he sprinted ahead of them to make it look like he took first place. He took the first place money and left. Sad thing was that a team mate of mine actually won, but missed the protest period because he was driving the lead vehicle for the race immediately after.
