Ok, so I don't want to fuel the flame of "Clydes vs. Skinnys". . . but this was a great victory for me today.

I was doing a ride I've done before, an out and back, about 12 miles out, 12 back (weird, huh? :-P). It's a pretty popular ride, well known by cyclists in town. Today, though, there was a headwind, with gusts up to 40 mph! Anyhow, I'm around mile five or so on the way out, a nice skinny roadie passes me, and says, "That wind makes this a really tough ride, eh?" He wasn't rude about it, he wasn't condescending, he was actually pretty friendly. . . but I don't think he expected me to make the full ride.

So, now, about the last mile or so on the climb out, he's on his way back down, and I give a friendly wave. He looks at me with disbelief, and I could tell he was surprised that a Clyde like me (232lbs, 5'10") could make that complete ride with that much wind. I smiled, considered it a small victory, and pushed hard to the turnaround point

What a great day today was, though! 28 miles total, almost 1000 feet of climbing! :D

Hip HIP Hoorah Hoorah Hoorah Hoorah !!!

I actually stole that from the last line of the Swedish Birthday Song but it seemed appropriate-

That reminds me of when I lug my more-than-three-less-than-four hundred lbs. onto the elliptical at the gym and people stare in disbelief when I last the full 30 minutes... Being big has its moments..:):D
