Ive just discovered some unraveling in my castelli bibs. Im pretty pissed off considering they arent that old and werent that cheap. The chamois has part of its stitching undone and on one of the leg grippers the stitching is coming apart. Anything I can do to stop this? I wash them on the delicate cycle. That might be my problem. Should I stick with handwashing?

If you get Velo News there is a company that advertises in the back that claims to repair shorts. Might be worth contacting. I cannot remember their name or internet address.

I had a similar problem with some Cannondale shorts several years ago. I returned them to the store and they simply replaced them. I know bib shorts can be expensive, don't accept sub-standard quality.

I wash all my shorts, bibs, and jerseys on the regular cycle in cold water with regular detergent and dry on low heat. Never had a problem.
Sounds like you got a bad pair.

2 pair of Pearl Izumi - top end bibs frayed and lost the stitching in shoulder straps after a single washing - followed suggested laundering procedure as well. Pretty disappointing

If you can't get them taken care of under warranty or whatever, the company that does repairs is hiddenbaysports.com. I had them replace worn out side panels in 3 pairs of well used but otherwise sound Aussie bibs as well as shorten the legs a bit. Great workmanship.

I have a pair of Castelli Italia shorts that the stitching has started to come loose too, and I bought them at the beginning of this summer. I'm not pleased with this, and they were fairly pricey as well.

Not to disparage the lawyerly replies others have offered, when same happened
to my low end Performance, Hind and now innominata shorts and under shorts
I just got out needle and thread and threw a few stitches in to lock the loosening places up. Took 10-20min while watching the tube depending on how unraveled they were. Mine were 5-6yrs old though. So far so good. Steve
