The lower joint on my Break-Away is giving me troubles. Anyone ever have any problems with theirs?

My bike is only a few months old. I can't tighten the fitting enough before it bottoms out. It was creaking on me while pedaling, then Ritchey was nice enough to send a new clamp, but that one now spins slowly as I ride. My last ride was 3 hours and it turned 1/4 of the way around, started creaking again.

I researched these quite a bit because I was hesitant to buy one, thought the design looked risky. I have to go back to them again but would like to know if others have had problems.

I have a Dahon Flo with the Break -Away system. I have had it for over a year. I've only disassembled it a few times, but ridden many miles. I have had no problem. They were very specific about not over tightening. I use a penny as a gage. Maybe it is a warrenty problem?

Here's a notice on the Ritchey site about that very issue.

I was aware that you should not let the two ends touch. There is no way I could leave as much space as shown in that "correct" photo.
