Road Cycling - Mounting Topeak Road Morph

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Friday I am finally getting my new Jamis Quest bike... I've noticed in pictures that along the bottom of the top tube theres a cable; not sure if its breaks or what. Anyway I have a Topeak Road Morph pump, and I want to mount it on the bottom of the top tube.. Can I mount it with that cable. The mount will go around the the whole top tube and tighten.. Can I mount it right over the cable or what....? Thanks..

If mounting the pump keeps the cable from moving properly it will cause either your rear brake or your front derailleur from working the way it should.
I just throw mine in my panniers. A large seat bag or handlebar bag would also fill the bill. Rivendell has some traditional Brit seat bags that I think are pretty cool.

The mounting bracket on the road Morph comes with slots in the bracket to accomodate the cable. It should not interfere with the operation of the shifting in any manner. I have hade mine mounted under the top tube for almost 2 years and have never experienced any shifting problems associated with the mount.

are you sure because I don't see any accomidations for a cable on the mount?

My mounting bracket consist of two velcro strips - one to fasten the bracket to the top tube and one (botton strip) to hold the pump. The bracket is plastic appx 4" long and has 3 sets of grooves to allow positioning of cables through the bracket. I tried to take a photo but it was too blurry to see this clearly. Your bracket may be different. Hope this helps.

I got a clear picture of the mounting bracket.
Okay, that explains it. I just recently got mying and they now consist of a quick release mount. Where you just press a button and slide it off. The just slide it back on until it clicks into place. But thanks for your input. I'll just have to wait until friday when I get the bike, sure i'll figure a way out.

The "standard" mounting technique, as displayed on the Road Morph package, calls for installation on the top tube.
However, I have installed the bracket on the downtube and fixed it with the bottle cage. It's neat and it keeps the top tube clear when I need to carry the bike around. Plus, I figure that the bracket won't be stolen since it is attached with bolts.
However, it's only on tours that I place the pump on the frame, The rest of the time, it fits nicely in my pannier with lunch, rain gear, and basic tool kit. That way, it automatically comes with me at the office.

install the mount so the center piece that holds the pump to the mount fits right between the 2 cables

I have both a Jamis Quest and a Road Morph. However, I have not yet looked at mounting the Morph under the top tube, since I currently have a Blackburn frame-fit pump in that location. However, there is only one cable on the lower left side of the top tube. No cable on the other side. I don't have the Morph available to check the mounting options at the moment, but I will do that later and post my findings here. The cable is for the rear brake, and I don't think it will be interfered with from the Morph's mounting bracket. I'll let you know for sure later.

I just test fit the Topeak Road Morph mount placement underneath the top tube on my Jamis Quest, and there is no interference with the rear brake cable. You should be able to mount the pump there with no problems.
