I bought a set of 8 speed Shamal wheels in quite good shape. My Athena cassette did not fit so I bought a 14-30 cassette claimed to be Record. It fit fine. The largest cog seems to be made from titanium, it is darker than the rest. I bought it before I thougt of the max cogs for my old Ebay Chorus RD (26). Today I bought a NOS 12-23 Record 8 speed . This leaves me with a nice set of cogs I have no use for. Does anyone know what RD this cassette was made for? All the road RD's I have seen have a max
capacity for 29 teeth.

I'm not sure about Campy's derailers. But Shimano is very conservative with their max teeth count. Shimano's is 27 teeth, but 28 would be fine, 29 possibly, 30 maybe. So, maybe the Campy's 29 max teeth derailer could handle the 30 tooth cassette.
