Does anyone know where I can buy a 34.9 mm seatpost, prefer cheapest, alloy single bolt for my new/old fixer upper folder
as last resort I can use a 34mm and shim it, but would like a 34.9 if someone might know where
thank if anyone knows, searched all over web today and if I don't get a lead here I will try Gaerlen or Calhoun
Brompton posts are 31.6 IIRC
the post that came with the folder is an old 34.9 mm steel heavy ass post that has extensive insertion scrapes and rust
I guess another alternative would be to oxalic acid it (get rid of the rust) and get it rechromed, but the scrapes are really bad
any ideas?? thought I would try here first before mechanics forum

Scott MTBs come with 34.9mm Ritchey posts. But that would set you back a bit if you could find it in the 1st place. Let me know if you find something, I also need same.
thanks Jur, looks like ritchey used to have them, only 31.6 sizes
I found and easton ec70 carbon for 120us and this u.s.e. but it's carbon and in the phillipines

and I am positive by the time it gets will be way north of 120us
If I find anything tomorrow I will let you know
which bike do you need your for? the Swift or Your Raleigh?
my post for the swift is the closest at 34.00, and have been trying all afternoon to jimmy up something with my shims, pop cans nothing seems to work
You won't find them on the Ritchey site - they are special for the Scotts. Occasionally the odd one turns up on ebay.
I have an old folder which still needs upgrading, that one has this post. I am planning to use the Swift 34mm one with a home-made shim (actually on the work's lathe). I can't remember if 34.9 is what i actually need, it might even be 35.5 or some weird number.
You might get a working shim from a steel can, these have thicher walls and are stronger for the job.
I agree, I think the best bet is the swift post with a shim, the swift post is perfect and I can switch between the 2 folders easily
Jur, could you tell me what a "steel can"is?...I have never heard that term before
I was also thinking maybe getting lucky at spruce aircraft, and maybe getting an aluminum tube and if I can get it the correct size cut off and modify
thanks for the reference for spruce to get the 6061 tube for the new stem/salsa liplock combo...swift looks cleaner...great mod and when I get the saddle nip and tucked will look almost as nice as yours:)
is that old folder your Raleigh or another one, what type?
darn, it just hit me, a steel can like a bean can or fruit can...I got it now
I will try that tomorrow and see if it will work thanks ;)

I saw one recently but can't remember where. Go to froogle.com and type in "34.9 seatpost", or try it in eBay.
