Foo - Stupid things to take to another country.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Would you take bullets to Russia? I don't think so. :)
So, what can you come up with to NOT take to another country?
Steven
considering that you're asking this on a primarily american forum, where well over 70% of the population doesn't even have a passport, i somehow doubt that this is the best place to ask.

Anything the country or countries I am visiting say I may not have with me. That would actually require finding out such information before I leave. Emailing a consulate or two, even.
That guy in Russia was so stupid, it makes me ashamed to be American.

Much, much worse than bullets would be a plant or insect - the damage from them is much, much worse.

Nah, dumb assed is a world wide issue.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark — When two Danish burglars realized someone had stolen the keys to their getaway car, they reacted like honest citizens and called the police.
Police said they were only too happy to help, and arrested them after they confessed to breaking and entering.
The men, identified only as an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old, broke into a summer cabin late Wednesday near Kaldred, 55 miles west of Copenhagen.
As they carried their haul to the car, they were confronted by a passer-by, who witnessed the break-in and insisted that they return the stolen property.
To ensure they couldn't get away, the passer-by took the keys from their car, and refused to return them.
"The two young men then called us and said they needed our help getting their keys back," Chief Superintendent Asger Larsen said on Thursday.
He said the two realized that without the keys, they would have to leave their car at the scene, which would put the police on their trail and lead to their arrest anyway.
"It's a pretty straightforward case for us, since this time, the thieves actually reported the robbery," Larsen said.

It's pretty much a given that you don't take guns or ammunition with you into a foreign country unless you declare it.
It's also illegal for the pastor to have taken ammunition on the plane without declaring it to the airline, and to the TSA people.
He's apparently flown to Russia several times before, and claims that he did not know that it was illegal to bring guns or ammunition into Russia without declaring the items  .

A friend of mine unwittingly transported a serious amount of drugs from Europe to the U.S. She pleaded ignorance and stupidity, and they believed her, but she is still a convicted felon.
heh, I just visited my friend in Toronto - and on the way back (via bus - as I'm that commuter) - we were held up getting back into the U.S. because ...
of a tangerine.
I watched probably 6 Border Patrol men take this tangerine from this man's luggage - and squeeze the dickens out of it (hehe - really - they squeeeeezed it!) - pass it back and forth (with gloves on) and look at it and talk about it and, OY COME ON, and discuss the living snot out of it until they finally confiscated that ONE tangerine and let the guy pass through - so we could get a move on homeward.
Hmmm, wonder what kinda tangerine that was? Buggies included of course.

Isn't this like taking a bottle of water to the swimming pool in order to pour it over yourself if you get too hot?

I was with a group of my students once. We had a tour of an Air Force base, and we had to yell at him for having a bullet in his pocket. He took it out before we went through, but ...geez. He's 20, you'd think he'd know better...

You ever been to a gun show? They have a jar outside that they fill with the bullets from all the loaded guns people bring to the show to sell. It's illegal to carry a loaded gun in a car in California, so it's scary to see how many people are either defiant or stupid.
My brother is a redneck and a commercial roofer. He had to go to a local military base to examine a roof. He forgot his shotgun was hanging in the rear window of his truck. The gate guards did not notice either, and let him on the base.
The MP's in the jeep that escorted him off the base were more observant.

And probably ready to draw at the first flinch too.
As I recall, they just escorted him to someplace where he could check his weapon and let him go on about his business.
Once I was shooting a 10K race that was being held on a base outside Atlanta. Before the race, we started taking pics of the attack copters parked on the runway in front of some hangers. We were told not to do that, I think they may have asked for the film in our cameras.

Ft. MacPherson?
Ft. Gilliam?
Not sure. Gilliam sounds right. It was in the mid to late 80's. I remember some beach bar/volleyball/wing place on Peachtree Street though. Atlanta girls are almost as hot as Dallas girls.

I thought all trucks in Texas had a gun rack with a gun on it. Isn't that how they come off the dealer lots?

I had a redhead girlfriend from Atlanta. She had gorgeous red hair straight out of a shampoo commercial. A true Georgia peach. Good times, good memories.
I was detained at the U.S. border for a $%^@ sausage.
Couple years ago - and well after the mad cow scare in Canada --- where at that time no beef products were being allowed into the states - I visited my good friend in Toronto via the now defunct Ferry that jetted across Lake Ontario - and of course went to my favorite St. Lawrence mkt and hit the sausage shops. I purposely bought a ham snausage (big thing too).
Coming home however - they wanted to see the food stuffs I brought back and I brought out my big honking sausage and it rolled onto their desk - I pointed out HAM sausage (it even said HAM on it) - and the border guard said, Uh-huh. Step aside. AND right at that time one of the three drunks who fell asleep on the ferry realized he lost his passport. You would have thought someone said .... bomb. All guards flew into action and went aboard the ferry to find this jerk's passport - while I was detained in this glass room. 40 minutes went by and by now I'm a seething mess having mini meltdowns --- hehe - guess I may have been a bit unruly and so 4 guards finally came in to talk to me. Only to say that the sausage was fine, which made me more mad -- I was detained for nearly 1-1/2 hours for a @#%% sausage. It was 11:30 pm on a Sunday night, last bus already went by - cost me another $25 in taxi fare.:mad::mad:

Yes. Horns on hood, pearl handled revolvers or chrome horse shoes as door handles, gun rack and a "Don't Mess with Texas*" bumper sticker are required by law on all new vehicles sold in Texas.
*prior to "Don't Mess with Texas" the bumper sticker read "Yankee Go Home" or "Welcome to Texas, Now Leave."
Could be worse:
