hey guys, I have a friend in Abingdon, MD (sp?) just north of Baltimore near Bel Air whos looking to get his first bike. he has no idea where to go and I have no clue whats in MD.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I'll be making a trip down there memorial day and we're going to go out test riding and looking around, so hopefully a few of you see this between now and then and I can put together a list of recommended shops for the trip.

Feel free to PM me if you want too.

Thanks!

I've had great luck with Bike Doctor in Linthicum. It's a small shop, but the guys who work there have always been helpful. I'm less impressed with Race Pace Bicycles (they have shops in Columbia, Owings Mills, and a couple more places). They have good brands (Fisher, Kona, Trek, Surly, Titus), but the people there don't seem as friendly as Bike Doctor.

I haven't tried any of the Baltimore only bike shops (Joe's Bike Shop, Light Street Cycles), but I'm sure they're both worth a try.

Awesome, thanks for the names of all the shops, it's a good starting point!

I got my Trek from Race Place in Columbia. A few months later, my wife got her Trek there as well. We were both very impressed with the selection of all the bike merchandise. I've also been to Bike Doctor. Both stores are good, IMO.
