SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- A Roman Catholic priest who floated off under hundreds of helium party balloons was missing Monday off the southern coast of Brazil...Gallas said by telephone that the priest wanted to break a 19-hour record for the most hours flying with balloons to raise money for a spiritual rest-stop for truckers in Paranagua...
Guess he forgot his BB gun.
At least he is closer to God now.

"He knew what he was doing and was fully prepared for any kind of mishap."
...except being subject to thinking it was a good idea.

I like this one better:
According to one ancient legend, a Chinese official named Wan-Hoo attempted a flight to the moon using a large wicker chair to which were fastened 47 large rockets. Forty seven assistants, each armed with torches, rushed forward to light the fuses. In a moment there was a tremendous roar accompanied by billowing clouds of smoke. When the smoke cleared, the flying chair and Wan-Hu were gone.

I saw that one....while sitting in an MD88 at JFK for 6 hours at the gate....all because of storms in ATL.
If it had not been for mythbusters, I might have been arrested for hijacking or something.
Dang, six hours of mythbusters? I guess it could be worse. Airline execs need to be publicly caned anytime passengers are forced to board and sit on teh tarmac for more than 30 minutes.

In the "Lawnchair Larry" story, I've always liked to imagine the conversation between a pilot and co-pilot flying past Larry on their way to or from the airport:
Pilot: Hey, Frank, did you see that?
Co-Pilot: Yeah, it looked like some guy in a lawn chair held up by baloons.
Pilot: That';s what I saw, too. You wanna call that in to the tower?
Co-Pilot: And have to go through 17 hours with a shrink to make sure I'm not seeing things? Hell, no.
Pilot: Well I'm sure as hell not gonna call it in after the crap I went through when I reported that UFO.
and so on . . . .
