I am so glad I found this site. I have never owned a car and don't plan on ever owning one. There is just something pleasing about being able to see the world arround you as you pass it on foot or bike. Smelling roses and all that stuff. If I do have to one day like for farming purposes I know a guy who converts stuff to bio-desiel. I was looking on doing some research on newer touring equipment. Bikes, tralors. I already have ultra light weight backbacking gear and have spent backpacking in Indiana, Ketucky, NC and my favorite so far Montana. East Glacier is Amazing. I did not bike to all these places but I want to start to. I have been hording tuna pouches all year planning for some excersion. I don't really care to talk to a bunch of the pretentious bikers arround here. I think there idea of a load is what fits in a quaint milk crate. I have an old touring bike. Old grey schwin road bike with the socketed tube joints. with rack and over sized saddle bags. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on any thing flashy enough to get my bike or cargo stolen. I just want something 5-12 speeds that is light standard easy to fix on the road. I bet I will have to invest in new tools to. I bet my bike tools look like dinosaur bones compared to the multi tool stuff they have to have now. I have seen a couple clever bike tools arround town. I will miss this bike. It has been all over. Before it was mine it toured mexico for 2 years. I am also going to need a trailor. I have never done any research on trailors most people I know do assisnted rides. I want to spend the next couple years getting in better shape so I can do the Continental Devide. I know a few people who have doen it. Two people from my high school won the Little 500. All the back packing is starting to get a little over bearing on my joints. I feel the need to cruise. I want to make a cuircut of what I like to call the Oasis of the state. Some states have more than one oasis. I am lucky to live in one. I live in Indiana and want to start just in the midwest. I kind of want to plan a trip from Btown to Yellow Springs Ohio. Come back to btown. Eventually I want this curcuit to start in Bloomington Indiana then to Yellow Springs Ohio then to Ashville NC to Memphis TN then to St. Louis back to Btown. Any and all input will be considered. If there is a better sub forum for me to ask about this sort of stuff please point me there....

This is probably a good subforum for your trailer questions, as well as moral support and the philosophy of carfree living. I hope you'll stick around here as you apparently have a lot to say about cycling. :)
You might also want to check out Utility Cycling (more on trailers), Touring and Long Distance Cycling. Bikeforums is huge, but there are lots of friendly little corners.

I'm glad we're getting more hoosiers and michiganders on the forum. Ken Kifer's site is one of my favorites on the Web. Besides great stuff on cycling and touring, he has posted Thoreau's Walden on the site, with full annotation by Ken--almost a Bible for people who are into simple living. I think Ken would have liked this forum, but unfortunately he was killed before it started.
