That sucks, Al. We'll expect you to have the ozone problem licked by next April. ;)

Seriously, sometimes I think the best thing to say is "Thank you for your service." We know that you already do a lot to at least not CAUSE the ozone.

The main point of the Ozone day story is to avoid outdoor activity. That means not walking or cycling. So only the crazies are out (of cars) on Earth Day damaging their lungs.

Of course if everyone didn't drive then the Ozone forecast for today would not come true and it would be fine to be outside.

Yeah, we have an ozone alert, folks, so no walking or cycling--everybody drive everywhere. Or stay indoors, close the windows and crank up the AC so we can burn more coal. And by the way, have a Happy Earth Day!

To the main point of this thread...

This mornings commute was fantastic. The air felt great (55F&dry) and it was great to be outdoors!

My ride to work today was great, I didn't even mind that I forgot the keys to the store and had to go back to my house.

Happy Earth Day! :) We had beautiful weather today, and I couldn't imagine being couped up in a car on such a day. In fact, I made a video on the commute home. :D

Nice video - very pleasant and relaxing. You obviously do not live around here.

Luckily, most of my commute is on an MUP, and the part shown in the video is an old abandoned road that runs through a park here, which cars can no longer access. I'm very fortunate to have the commute I do. It's when one has to bike on regular roads around here that he runs into trouble.

Actually, I try to enjoy the world around me every day, and that includes doing a small part to keep it beautiful.

Yesterday (22nd) was a great day for a bike ride. Cloudy all day, but no rain. Saw some blue sky here and there, but wouldn't stay long.

We have a BBQ at work today (23rd), so I'll be commuting early to eat and/or get the grill going before I start. I was talking with the Secretary saying we should've had the BBQ on the 22nd as part of Earth Day. Her response was that we were not celebrating Earth Day. The Terminal Manager chimed in that we like Earth Day and that the BBQ is 90% regarding performance and 10% Earth Day celebration. That made my day!

Yesterday turned into a good day after I got out (the night before had been epically bad, since no one got to sleep til 2am due to some work related excitement). My partner and I biked to Nam's Noodles and met a friend for lunch. I had tasty spring rolls and pho, which made me very happy. Then I got to bike to get groceries, and our favorite cereal was in stock. The weather was gorgeous :).

I also discovered that carrying cut flowers seems to be an excellent way to get more space on the road *g*.

Today looks to be just as pretty, so I'm planning to bike around one of the lakes.

I celebrated by using the local bus to get to and from a customer location to do a service call and walking home from work. Earth celebrated with a thunderstorm.

I got a "happy earth day" and a peace sign from a coworker, and i thought i was the only one..

I wish every day were an Earth Day. Makes me wonder at the sad state of affairs when we devote only one day to the planet and the other 364 days are Let's Destroy the Planet days.
