Was just thinking how much all the bikes that Lance rode in his TdF victories must be worth to a collector. I wonder where they all are now. Think Trek hangs onto them? Maybe they display them at their factory? One of those things that makes ya go hmmmmm. Anyone know?

I cant speak for Lances' bikes but most of them get auctioned off to pay for team expenses. Considerig how much money Trek has invested in the team it wouldnt surprise me if certain bikes are kept by Lance and others by Trek. The team has close to $200,000 worth of bikes so its best to sell them. 5 bikes per rider (roughly 10) @ $4000 per bike.

Yep. Unless it changes this year, Trek will be auctioning last year's bikes on their website. They generally publish a list of the bikes, who rode, size, how equipped and then auction about ten per week, or so. I don't recall if this includes LA's, but it did include everyone else's last time I looked. May not include Heras this year due to his win at the Veulta. Not sure when the auction starts, but you can always go to Trek's website and ask.

USPS has 20 riders on their roster, not 10, so it's more than that.

Who cares what happens to Lance's bikes? Trek makes some money and sells more bikes, but all Lance does is reinforce the idea of bicycling as sport. As far as I'm concerned, Joe Breeze does a lot more to promote bicycling for everyday transportation needs than Lance ever will; they can landfill Lance's bikes for all I care, they're not everyday commuter bikes anyway...

You are so far from the truth I really dont know how to comment.

Ya know what? I'm not going to. The thread about what happens to LA's bikes not your anti-race personal crusade for commuting.....

I'm going to bid on a 54cm...I dont care who's name is attached to it.....
