We're new to the tandem world but I have been participating in the Mechanic's forum for some time. We bought a mid nineties Santanna Rio last month and got out on our first ride together last night. We did a 15 mile ride around the lake near our house. We were both pleased with the ride and teamwork went relatively well. I kept forgetting to let her know when I was going to coast down to a corner etc but it did go well for the most part and we are looking forward to our next ride.

The bike currently runs a 7 speed rear but I built a nine speed rear wheel this winter for it. I already had the balance of the componentry for the switch in my spares inventory for the Mountainbikes. I usually keep a spare nine speed cassette and chain and I have some shifters left over from another project.

Welcome. We just started tandeming ourselves. We bought a 1990 Santana Arriva, and are also adding a 9 speed rear wheel to upgrade the drivetrain. :)

Many happy miles!

We just upgraded from a '94 Burley Duet to a new Co-Mo Speedster and are loving it.

Cheers!

Blamp28:
Welcome to the world of TWOgetherness!
As you found out: *communication* is the key to becoming a great tandem duo.
Next time you don't communicate, she'll pull the back of your shorts down and hook 'em under rear of your saddle!
Enjoy the ride.
