AlainP,
Talked about bad luck. I'm glad to see there was not too much damage, with the exception of your poor bike. You might have kept me company on the climbs.
What made this ride tough today was the heat. It's always tough on the first hot weekend of the year, and the body is not acclimated to the hot climate. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it.
We were waiting on uspspro and SesameCrunch. We got a call from them, saying they will join us on Palomares. We proceeded to ride on, and we rode up to the top, and waited around for several minutes. Still no sign of them. We decided to continue on. Uspspro and SesameCrunch took a wrong turn after getting to the other side of Palomares. Oh well.
We stopped for lunch in Sunol, but by the time we headed up Calaveras, it was already 1:30 PM. I was preparing for a hot climb, and it was. Drank up enough cold fluids to get me going, but I was still trailing in the back. Once we got into town, into Fremont, with flat terrain, that's where I was able to kick it in gear. However, by that time, my legs were spent.
Ok, nappy time now. Time to let this body rest. But maybe after I have another ice cream. :D
