I have a weekend route from Bonita to Jamul then Honey Springs the Otay lakes rd back into bonita. I take Jamacha to the 94 then to campo rd. If I leave early on the weekends, the route isn't too bad with traffic. Is it pretty peaceful on the weekdays or is this a popular commuter route? I wanted to take a few friends up that route since I am tired of doing silverstrand all the time but we can only get together on the weekdays since we are off different days.

This is one of my training roads, and it seems to be fairly active no matter when. Although, I must say that Saturday afternoons are worse than weekdays. A couple of Saturdays ago I did a ride out there around 4:00pm and it was busy.

For a bonus, from Jamul take them up Lyons Valley Road, then continue up Skyline Truck Trail, and then down Honey Springs, which puts you on the 94 right by Otay Lakes Road. Coming down Honey Springs gives you 6-7 miles of descending. That beats riding the 94 between Jamul and Otay Lakes Road, which is a little too busy even for me. I have had trucks pass within touching distance.

In short, expect it to be busier, but not by a lot.
