Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Took my first 515am ride this AM, and I'm hooked. Only did about 7 mi since I wanted get my timing and route down so I can be home and help the kids get ready while my wife prepares for work (I work at home).
Also hit Weight Watchers today and I'm down 4.2 for the week (and I ate horribly). Must keep riding, it's working!
I ride from 4AM-6AM...You're almost there ;)

Yikes too much for me. For right now (comfort level) i'm going around 5 since we're getting a tad o' light at that time. Got the lights on the bike on for safety sake. I'm down 17 lbs in a bit over a month so that's incentive to get my arse out of bed and moving.

I'm waiting for it to be light enough at 5:30 AM so I can be hammering then and back by about 6:15. I have a tight time frame as I drive my daughter to school every day. I'm figuring I can hit the road about 15 min. before official sunrise and have it light enough to navigate (will get some blinkies though so I'm visible). It looks like that will happen about mid-May or so. I really don't want to ride before I can see the road well as I intend to ride hard and fast on most days and want to see road hazards in front of me.
Until then, I'm still getting up at 5 AM and hitting the trainer...

^^^ get up at 5:45 and you will have time for coffee.
I love early morning or late night rides. I use a lot of lights though.

Took an AM ride with the Mrs. today. 43 degrees with 40MPH wind gusts. The ride didnt' last long, but she is convinced now to suppliment her Giant Boulder SE with a Hybrid. We looked at the Trek 7.2 for her, and I think we'll snag one when the sales kick in again later this summer.

As soon as it warms up a bit, I plan on doing a regular 20 mile ride early am, then an hour of swimming.

Wow. You folks are hardcore. I get up early, and on the road I'll hit the gym at 5:00 am. I'll ride the stationary bike since the airlines hate to give up a free seat to my Canondale. But to go OUTSIDE (40 degrees?) at 5 am . . . not so much.

40 degrees is fine as long as you know it is going to get warmer!

I like to do my rides in the AM too. On weekdays it's up at 5:00 and on the bike by 5:10. I'm doing 10 miles currently on the weekdays which puts me back home at around 6:00. Today I did about 18 but didn't start until about 7:15. I've found that I almost have to do my riding in the morning because if I don't it becomes too easy to blow off the ride/workout as the day gets longer.

I love early morning and late night rides. I have lights and really enjoy the serenity of those times of the day. Of course, in Dallas this time of year, the temperature is quite cooperative and makes riding a joy. :)
I did my first morning ride today, and I have to tell you the reduction in traffic was great! The cooler temps in the beginning stunk, but as the ride went on it wasn't too bad :)

Well back on the horse, Monday AM ride. Took the Hardrock out since the FCR was in the basement getting some work done and I was too lazy to bring it upstairs.
HOLY COW, it is much easier on my FCR. I got a workout on the less-efficient Hardrock. I need to go the bdinger route and get some slicks on it or I can't take that out on my AM rides again! I'm darn pooped!
I get up at 5:00 AM every day too.... go to the bathroom and go right back to bed. Sorry, early mornings are not for this night-owl despite how pleasant they sound. Fifteen years ago when I was doing triathlons I did a lot of early morning stuff and found that at 4:00 I was profoundly tired and ready for a nap. (Which is not good if you work for a living.)

I work in a home office so I dont' have to worry about getting in a suit or business casual. With 2 youngins at home getting up @ 5 is only an hour earlier than I'm used to so it wasn't that much of an adjustment. It was down into the low 30's here this AM so I "ixnay'd" the ride and have to drive up to Green Bay on business EARLY tomorrow so tomorrow is out. Back out on Thursday. Did buy some biking gloves to protect the hands from the cold and got some clothes that would be more conducive to biking in either type of weather.
