Holy crap...not again...bad luck for recursive on this course.
Nice finish dave.

I never made it there.
No way I felt like riding, and as I explained earlier, I had other duty that sprung up as well.
Pissed me off, but what are you gonna do? That's life.

Holy Crap!

Sorry Recursive! Hope you managed to escape with nothing more than some minor road rash and a few bruises (yes, that includes your pride)!

Nice finish Dave!

Reading all of the reports on race preparations and races is making me want to get out there and toe the line. My neighbor keeps telling me to do it, but alas I've got some more weight to lose and to work on upping that average speed . . . maybe the end of the summer?

Race report:

I'm an idiot. I forgot to turn. Didnt take anyone else down. Just totally stupid. I seriously forgot there was a turn. I took my free lap. On the bright side, I can say I got 4th in the field sprint on a fractured wrist.

...sigh ....

Interesting note on the last one. The second rider in that shot (orange) is the son of a former team mate of mine, his name is Eric Loberg ... and he's a cycling STUD! I last saw him when he was 17 and ripping up the 4's ... now he's 21 and making minced meat of the 2's.

Much better pics to come (video too). Psimet and Recursive: I've got some GOOD stuff of both of you, but I'm just trying to archive all this, charge the batteries, and prepare for Sheboygan tomorrow.

(edit: A quick editorial - we used to call days like this a 'hard rider's day'. Tuff course on a nice day, but that headwind on the back stretch really put the hurt on everyone. The 4/5 field was splintered on the first lap, a small grupetto formed in no time. In other classes, there were tighter packs, but they got smaller every time around. To all who raced on this blustery spring day - BRAVISSIMO!! ;)

Nice to know the pictures look like about how I felt. I'll do a report later when I get hom from this ride, but short was I was on the front through most of the first lap. I got pushed outside the cones at the top of the first hill. Couldn't get back in until the back of the field. At that point it was headwind city. :( boo

I took my time and just wanted to finish at that point. Nice Saturday ride.

Saw Recursive as I came through the corner at the bottom of the hill and gave him my "this sucks" face.

Sucks to hear about your wrist man. Keep the rubber side....well...nevermind. :o

There's no fooling the steely eye of the camera. Hat's off to you for just toeing the line yesterday! ;)

Edit: Oh yeah, first of the Whitnal video is up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM5vfxkoukw

Sunday morning....

JDUB....thanks for the effort. Pictures great. Video greater. If you show up to shoot at another race this year I am going to enter just to get some pictures of me!

After seeing that vid I really feel guilty now....I missed my home training course race.
But alas, duty called, and I had to be elsewhere.

Still, I had a window of time to at least drive over there but I didn't.

Again, hats off to those who raced. I really admire you guys, all the crap that is written here aside.

I'm going to link your video on my training blog JDUB.

Sorry about the wrist Recursive! Hope it heals soon!

J:

you wouldn't happen to have any more stuff of the Masters 4/5 race would you? It was my second race and I like to see some pics if you have them. I was MOP for the whole race (I'm quite proud of not spending 1 sec in the wind). Good learning experience for me.

I'm in an IS Corp jersey, 'carbon' colored helmet, knee warmers, shoe covers, and riding the blue specialized. This might describe all 5 teammates though.

Thanks!

Also, I saw a couple of guys (3 or so) with serious camera setups (big lenses and whatnot). Which one were you? If you're in Baraboo next week I'll introduce myself properly.

Nope. I caught part of Masters 3/4 and Masters 1/2/3 ... you're just going to have to move up. ;)

Oh, wait. Are we talking Whitnal or Sheboygan? I did see part of the race in Sheboygan, but this is the only IS Corp I saw in M4/5:

I will be at Baraboo this Saturday and I guess if I'm going to drive all that way, I better be armed to the teeth to go all day :o , so you should find me ... some where. I'll have my still camera and video camera with tripod.

Uploading video to Youtube right now. Pix later today.

Erik's on the cycling club at UWM too! He's an awesome guy.

You weren't there for the Womens race?

Hey JDUB, you got any pics of any of the LAPT guys in the Masters 3/4 or the Masters 1/2/3 @ Whitnall? Like the fourth/fifth racers in the first lap of your video?
