Being very familiar with sitting on both of those freeways for long stretches of time I think this stunt is exactly what some people needed to see. I have co-workers who drive two blocks (!) to work while a few of us do 20+ miles RT on our bikes.

Guess who gets looked at like they're crazy?

I've ridden on I-15 twice in the last month for a short stretch where there's no bike lane. The cars don't bother me (ipod) but the debris is terrible.
