Hi folks,

My living setup requires me to keep my bikes on the front porch, exposed to elements and sun year-round. The sidewalls of any decent grippy tires I buy tend to weather really fast and wear out long before the tread does. And being in Wisconsin, there's a good amount of salt, moisture and temperature change that probably doesn't help.

Is there any sort of treatment I can apply to the sidewall rubber to protect 'em? Anyone tried something like STP's "Son of a Gun" vinyl/rubber reconditioner?

vinyl / rubber conditioner is basically silicon. ie. slippery.
I would not put it on bicycle tires. You could cause yourself real problem in a turn.

That happened to a friend of mine with a brand new motorcycle. They used Armor all on the tires in the showroom. He was laying in the street about two miles from the dealer. They gave him a new bike.
