Training & Nutrition - Bumps / lumps / nodules in my muscles

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So here's something I've never been able to find anything about.

In the past few years I've been getting these bumps / lumps / nodules.

They are not painful, just a slight sting under really hard massage pressure, but they don't break up like a muscle knot would.

They feel basically round, they are maybe 1/4 inch in size, and they are located in several places on my body, always sort of in the fold between muscles (where I _think_ the lymph system runs ?).

They don't hurt, I have no other health issues I'm aware of, and my GP doc said "they're fat nodules, no prob".

But I'm looking for more detail. Somehow I've got it in my mind that they are caused by really hard efforts - for example last night I did intervals, and afterward I was doing a little self massage and they were more noticable and even a bit more tender under pressure than usual.

Anybody know what these are?

I've got a bunch of those from decades ago and some of mine are large, 50 cent size. The doc said they were fat accumulations and showed me his. They are called lipoma.

Google lipoma, lots of references.

However, it's perhaps best to verify they are lipomas at the docs to ease your mind.

I have lipomas too, but they do not break up. Might be something else.
