Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Help with my Kilo TT build?

I just ordered a Kilo TT frame and this would be my first build. I'm slowly just looking for used parts on craigslist and ebay.. but I'm unsure of a few things.

1. I just got a Cane Creek C2 aheadset but I realized it was a threadless, and I'm not sure if I could use it? Is their anyway I could?

2. Cranks and BB, Am I supposed to look for a special sizing besides the 68mm English Threaded and The crank length I want?

1. Depends on the size of the frame you got and hte length of the steerer that came with it. It was a goofy mix up and some can and some can't do the whole threadless scene.

2. You want to get that other number for the BB. 68x103mm seems standard for a few cranks such as the Alien crankset. This number helps you get a chainline of 42mm to match the rear chainline of most track hubs like Formula.

^^^ For example, IRO cranks fit with a 110mm spindle to yield a 42mm chainline (which is a measurement of the chain's distance from the center of the frame, and also from the center of the hub). Basically, as m4bandit said, most 120mm track hubs put the chain 42mm from center, so you want to figure out what bb length you'll need for whatever cranks you choose.

I have a 50cm and my fork seems to only be long enough for threaded. I don't mind because that what I planned on using anyway. I love threadless but threaded has such a great classic aesthetic look to it. (The reason I bought this frame was so I could build it up from a functional aesthetics point of view.)

If you find that you can only do threaded with your current fork, there are threadless adapter options available.

You will want to make sure your chain ring, cog, and chain all have a common width, either 1/8 or 3/32. It doesn't matter which one, you just want to make sure they match. It might be worth it to pick up a build kit like IRO's drive train kit (budget, no hubs, customizable) or the miche track group (spendier, but comes with hubs and pedals, not customizable) at Chuck's bikes. This takes the guess work out of matching bb to crank to chain to cog to hub.

Thanks M4. I'm just a bit confused because the Nashbar.com live help staff said a threadless adaptor wouldn't work.

Anyone using one these? Any downsides?

Well I just looked and realized you got a threadless headset. You would need a threaded headset for the fork. Then you could use the adapter. But by that point, you may as well use a quill stem. I misunderstood and thought you had a threadless stem already. In reality, you should post a photo of your frame and fork inserted into the headtube so maybe we could take a look at the length and be able to better understand what you're working with.

To my knowledge the Kilos are all threaded. Spend a little extra and get a decent headset...I prefer unsealed so I can repack the bearings. There are a ton on ebay cheap. You need to get cranks BEFORE you buy a BB...the cranks dictate the spindle width. Again...ebay some older cranks. That being said...I also prefer 1/8" to 3/32" drivetrains. DECIDE NOW! Your ability to find 1/8" stuff greatly depends on what bolt pattern your cranks have. 144bcd, 130bcd, 110bcd are the most common. If you plan on running 1/8" look for 144bcd cranks. There is a plethora of 1/8" stuff made for them. The 3/32" route, if you choose that. will be better suited to 130bcd cranksets. You CAN get 1/8" stuff but it's not as common and pricey.

Those will work and if you use a sugino 103 BB you'll get a 42mm chainline with the ring on the outside.

don't get the miche primato headset, the fork is too short for it

The fork of the framesets from bikeislan are unthreaded, the factory screwed up so peoples have too short of a steering tube for thier head tube to run threadless. You still need to thread it afaik

not all the forks were messed up. they all are threaded, but some of them are too short to be used even with a threaded headset.

my 57 came with a fork that needed to be cut down about exactly an inch...no problems.
